The Par de Calais region covers from the Belgium border in the north down to roughly Le Touquet on the coast and inland to Arras. The coast road down to the south takes in Boulogne which can also be reached by ferry. There is a nice collection of hairpin bends and undulating roads between Calais and Boulogne which makes for a nice days ride out on its own. Don't be afraid to venture inland where there are some excellent quiet roads and the odd pleasant cafe which awaits you.
Again my favorite places to visit will have a WWII theme to them as that is where my interests lie. Please feel free to contribute any information on places in the Par de Calais which you can recommend.
La Coupole is situated near Saint Omer and comprises of a large museum built within the V2 base which was constructed within a French hillside. Two cinemas show rare archive footage not seen outside France, and the building houses numerous exhibits showing the German plans to create a large numbers of these bases all over France and a history of rockets up to the present day.
The Blockhaus is the large (very large) remains of a V2 base which never went into action due to the incessant bombing of the allies during its construction. Well worth a visit just to see the scale of these huge plants built in solid concrete. Within the grounds stands a V1 launch ramp with a V1 on the end. There are audio guides situated all over the site which explain the workings and layout of the structure.
